Overview

Mittyandbeans, located at 1A, Jalan Prima Saujana in Kajang, Selangor, is a café that gracefully blends cozy vibes with a hint of modern casual dining. Nestled above a bustling mamak restaurant, this open café attracts those who appreciate calm greenery and thoughtful aesthetics. The entrance, framed by lush plants, sets a welcoming tone for visitors looking to enjoy a relaxed meal or a quiet coffee break.

The menu highlights reveal a diverse offering, reflecting a fusion of classic comfort foods and unique culinary twists. Standout dishes like Aglio Olio and Spaghetti Carbonara embody the café’s strength in Italian-inspired pastas, while local favorites such as Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik and Mee Kari showcase Malaysian flavors with authenticity. The French Rose Latte and Strawberry Milkshake add a charming and delicate touch to the beverage selection, providing a refreshing complement to the savory dishes. For those seeking a hearty start, the English Breakfast and Butter Chicken Rice offer satisfying, well-prepared options.

Guests consistently applaud the quality and taste of the food, with particular praise for the Butter Clams paired with Mantou—an enticing combination that promises a balance of rich flavors and texture. Even the seafood Aglio Olio receives favorable remarks, noted for its distinctive flavor despite modest portions, suggesting an emphasis on quality over quantity. Meanwhile, desserts like Macadamia Nut Chocolate round out the menu with a sweet indulgence that caters to the café’s diverse clientele.

The space itself is an interesting mix of wood-design vinyl and cement-rendered flooring, lending both warmth and an industrial edge. The seating layout supports around 40 to 50 patrons comfortably, and while the open-concept design allows for natural light and external views, some visitors mention room for improvement in ventilation and cleanliness, especially regarding the counter and window smudges. Efforts to enhance lighting and include dedicated family or couple seating areas could elevate the ambiance further, making it better suited for both casual meetups and intimate gatherings.

Service is approachable and polite, with customers ordering at the counter from a physical menu. However, modernization through digital QR menus could enhance the user experience and streamline orders, especially during busy periods. Notably, the staff’s friendly demeanor and willingness to accommodate, such as offering treats when dishes run out, leave a positive impression and reflect well on the café’s customer care.

Mittyandbeans appeals primarily to families, friends catching up, and casual diners in search of a venue that is both calming and engaging. The blend of Malaysian favorites and Western classics caters to diverse palates, while the location in Kajang positions it as a convenient spot for locals and visitors alike. Though there are areas for refinement in space management and menu presentation, this café exhibits strong potential to become a cherished neighborhood staple through thoughtful enhancements.

Overall, Mittyandbeans offers a delightful balance of taste, warmth, and atmosphere. It’s a place where one can savor well-crafted dishes equipped with a touch of homely comfort, backed by sincere service, making it a recommendable stop in the Kajang café scene.

This place is really nice and quite aesthetic. One thing though, they could design the menu paper better since it would be more exclusive if they don’t just put sellotape to tie the menu together. The rose coffee is really good but it’s not like hot hot.

My first time in this cafe. Located corner shop lot at 1st floor above a mamak restaurant. Looking at it from outside seems a decent place. Going in the cafe had a welcome feeling with greenery at the entrance. It’s an open cafe with adequate seatings to cater about maximum 50-60 customers but will be congested. Maybe maximum 40-50 customers is just nice. Atmosphere is okay as open but still there’s privacy as adequate seatings separation. Dining area ambiance can be cozy but may require a bit more ventilation. Maybe some improvements also needed at the counter area arrangement and cleanliness. At the dining area, ensure the window is spotless without hand or finger print smearing the nice external views. The flooring is also a bit unique with partly wood design vinyl and partly cement rendered. Lighting is acceptable but can be better to create better ambience. Service quality is okay as you need to refer a hard copy menu and order at the counter. Not an issue but use of QR menu online ordering would give customers a better experience. Food quality and taste is acceptably good, maybe a bit less chili flakes on the Aglio Olio appreciated. A bit pricey as the portion may be inadequate, however understandable with the seafood sides. Increase a bit the portion may give customers more time to enjoy how good the food is. Tried ordering spaghetti carbonara but too bad that the cafe ran out of spaghetti carbonara at 8pm? A bit disssapointed. Overall, a highly potential cafe with acceptable service, good quality and tasty food. May need some capital injection to improvise the interior. Suggest create an interior decoration plus lighting with section catering family seating and some sections of private couple seatings. Capitalize on the external traffic views.

Went here to celebrate my in law’s birthday and the family was happy with the food. My favourite is still the Big Breakfast, and the Mantou with Butter Clam was good too. It was a bit underwhelming on our 2nd trip, but I totally understand since it was almost 9pm reaching their closing time. But the experience was still good, the server was very kind to offer some delights as some of the item weren’t available when we ordered. So no sad face for the kids, they’re so happy when they receive the food. Also, one of my friend ordered the Seafood Aglio Olio and the portion was quite small, but when it comes to the flavour it is definitely something that is worth the price. So that is something to expect. Overall, definitely a good place for a family, good food & service

Great vibes. Always one of my main options for breakfast. I have tried their nasi lemak (all variations), and loved all of them. Their pastas also delish! Except recently I’ve noticed the portions (for the pastas) has gotten less 15%. (At least that’s how i feel.. since I’ve been visiting since it first started operation few years back)
